Game Engine Integration with MOG

MOG can easily be integrated into any game engine. There are 4 levels of integration that can be done with MOG, ranging from basic to extensive. These 4 levels are:

  • 1. Data Management: Manage electronic assets without building packages.
  • 2. Packaging and Ripping: MOG does ripping and packaging of data.
  • 3. Communication: Editor becomes "MOG-aware" and asset updates become automated.
  • 4. Realtime: MOG ties directly into the game engine, allowing realtime updating of assets.
With most other solutions currently available, the best you will get is a level one integration. Asset management is a key component of game development, but it is only scratching the surface of an ideal game pipeline solution.

MOG brings you a solution that will provide your company with the ultimate pipeline. You don't need to stop at a basic "level one" integration. See our examples below that show integration with varying game engines.

Glest (Level 4 Integration)

Glest is a free 3D real time strategy game. It is a great sample for us to showcase because we are able to easily swap out 3D models and textures.

This project demonstrates data management and a direct link between MOG and the game.

Tank (Level 4 Integration)

The Tank demo project is from a great multiplayer 3D tank battle game called BZFlag.

You can update sound effects and textures on the fly!

Unreal (Level 3 Integration)

For those using UE3, we have good news. MOG has already been fully integrated, making plugging MOG into your pipeline incredibly quick and easy. Here are some exciting features you will find nowhere else:

  • Tracking and revisioning of each microscopic change in a package.
  • Multiple users can work in a single package simultaneously.
  • Assign a single asset to multiple packages. Update one file and have it pushed to all packages automatically.
  • Late Resolvers, a technology that protects links from breaking within packages and enables team collaboration within the package.

Users of UE3 will be able to utilize these, and more, invaluable benefits within hours of downloading and installing MOG.
